Logic Explorers Introduces New Code Visualization, Analysis and Documentation Solution To Speed Java/J2EE and .NET Development

CodeLogic Saves Developers Time and Enhances Productivity; Customers Verify That Solution Pays for Itself within 3-5 Hours of Use

Philadelphia, Pa. - August 9, 2004 Logic Explorers, an innovator of development acceleration tools, today announced the CodeLogic 2.0 family of products which allow developers to immediately visualize the deep internal logic of their development project source code.  This major release also extends the power of the CodeLogic toolset to include support for C#/.NET development projects and includes integration with the increasingly popular Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft Visio and IBM Rational Rose products.

The CodeLogic 2.0 product family can be used as a standalone application or as a tightly integrated plug-in for Borland JBuilder, Eclipse, JetBrains IntelliJIDEA, Oracle JDeveloper and Visual Studio .NET.  CodeLogic automatically analyzes the deep internal logic of any source code and generates a variety of UML and other graphical visualizations that allow a developer to immediately understand the structure and intent of an application.  When used as a plug-in to industry standard integrated development environments (IDEs) the generated diagrams are fully integrated with the development tools.  By simply clicking on any graphical element CodeLogic can immediately link the developer to the underlying code.

“With the exponentially increasing volume of Java and C#/.NET code organizations are facing a new, urgent challenge – how to manage, maintain and extend those investments,” said Scott Opitz, CEO of Logic Explorers.  “CodeLogic is designed to significantly accelerate these efforts by virtually eliminating the time-consuming and error-prone methods of manually analyzing and deciphering source code and dramatically reducing the learning curve for new developers assigned to a project.”

Unlike reverse-engineering tools that focus on static data models, CodeLogic’s dynamic code model describes how the code is executed, taking into account all logical forks, loops, branches or other control-flow variants common to a typical execution path. CodeLogic’s sophisticated analysis engine resolves variable names, recognizes type conversions, and processes virtual functions until the complete execution path can be determined.

CodeLogic also helps organizations protect their development investments by providing fast, accurate insight into a project’s progression.  Using CodeLogic a project manager can easily monitor their development projects to ensure the actual code implemented meets the requirements of the project.  CodeLogic can also automatically generate architectural documentation for the project that can be printed, published electronically or exported to tools such as Microsoft Visio.  CodeLogic will also support the exporting of UML Class and Sequence Diagrams to IBM Rational Rose allowing it to better handle existing source code investments.

Developers can use CodeLogic to assist in accelerating a number of their daily activities.  They can quickly identify sections of code that require modification when being ported to new platforms or environments.  Unlike case tools and the majority of UML tools that are typically used by developers, CodeLogic always reflects the real-time status of the underlying code.  Particularly unique is CodeLogic’s ability to automatically generate UML Sequence diagrams – something that is absent from object design and modeling software costing ten times the price.

CodeLogic 2.0 is expected to ship in early September from Logic Explorers and through its reseller partners.  The suggested retail price for a single-user license is $295.
